About Us
We are Nate and Kim and we live in Newberg, Oregon. We identify with the Free Methodist Church denomination, and if you want to know why then ask. Kim grew up attending Catholic church, receiving the sacraments and all, memorizing when to stand, kneel, sit, hold hands and say the Nicene Creed. Nate grew up in a pentecostal church and will, in the nicest way possible, say that he still is learning what that whole thing is/was all about.
Things we are:
Married, best friends, parents to three boys, music lovers, football fans, art appreciators, movie watchers, book readers, friends, family members, listeners, talkers, dreamers, and quite often we are tired. We try to follow Jesus as best as we can, somedays it goes better than others. Sometimes we give our best and sometimes we need people to remind us that we are settling. We are interested in living a life wholly devoted to Christ and loving the way He loves, with the hope (maybe dream) that someday it may come naturally, like breathing.
There is a lot more that could go on this list.
Things we are not:
Experts. Scholars. We do not have any initials that could go after our names. We don’t pray before every meal. We also do not run marathons, we forget to recycle sometimes, and sometimes we even let our kids go to bed without brushing their teeth. We are not country music fans. (Well, I would say that the one with better taste is definitely not.) We are not fans of vampires or zombies, but we won’t judge you if you are. There is A LOT more that could go on this list. We are absolutely not perfect, and it is something we are actually okay with.

Remember the Family Circus comic strip when it would show little Billy’s path from one place to another? He would be going from his next door neighbor’s house to his house and somehow managed to walk, skip and jump probably a mile to get there.
I was reminded of Billy when I thought about trying to describe the path we have taken to get to this point in life, to where we would fall into the category of “church planter” or something like that.
It wasn’t direct, it wasn’t fast, it would look inefficient and perhaps exhausting. But it got Billy home and he sure did make a memory, right?
Sounds about comparable to how we got to this place. And I think it may even be an accurate picture to give an idea about what life and church and the whole “being the body of Christ” thing can look like.
